Study Abroad

If you will be enrolled in a University of Michigan-sponsored study abroad program, you may apply for financial aid (and be considered for all aid programs except Work-Study) through the U-M Office of Financial Aid (OFA).  Depending upon the cost of the study abroad program in which you enroll, we may or may not be able to meet your full demonstrated financial need to attend the program.  For more information about aid for your particular study abroad program, please contact our office.

  • If you will be participating in a study abroad program during Fall/Winter, follow the directions for applying for Fall/Winter aid (note, continuing students applying for Fall/Winter aid must complete an Applicant Data Form if they will be studying abroad).

  • If you will be participating in a study abroad program during the Spring/Summer term(s), follow the directions for applying for Spring/Summer aid.

If you will participate in a study abroad program sponsored by another institution or agency (not sponsored by the University of Michigan), you must contact the Office of Financial Aid as soon as possible to review your options.
