When should I send scholarship checks for students?

FALL TERM

Prior to August 15

WINTER TERM

Prior to December 15

How do students receive their scholarship funds?

  • A student must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours for undergraduates), for the scholarship to be credited to his/her student account.  Donors must submit a letter in writing to the Office of Financial Aid Scholarship Unit if they want their funding to be awarded to students who are less than full-time.
  • Scholarship funds are disbursed evenly over two terms, one-half in the Fall term and one-half in the Winter term. Donors must submit a request in writing if they want the scholarship funds to be disbursed for one term only.
  • If the scholarship check is sent directly to the student and it is made payable to the student, the student must endorse it and apply the scholarship funds to his/her student account.
  • If the scholarship check is made payable to the University and the student, the student must endorse the check and send it to Teller Services (the Cashier's Office), as noted above.
  • Payment will be processed and applied to the student's account within two to three weeks of the University's receipt of the scholarship check.
  • Scholarship funds are directly applied to the student s University account to pay for tuition, fees, University-operated housing, and other University charges.  Any excess funds (called a refund) are released to the student directly (by check or direct deposit).
  • All requests should be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid Scholarship Unit (see contact information, above right).
